The widespread use of social media has led many to worry that these personalized platforms are fostering a generation of narcissism and self-obsession. However, before condemning personalized technology as the root of our societal problems, Professor Tracy Alloway suggests we should explore how social media might actually enhance our memory of events and improve our self-awareness and relationships.

Dr. Tracy Packiam Alloway is a psychology professor and Graduate Program Director at the University of North Florida. She received the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2015 and the Outstanding International Leadership Award in 2014. Additionally, she was honored with the Joseph Lister Award by the British Science Association for her exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas to a general audience. Dr. Alloway's research focuses on working memory, particularly its implications for education and learning. She has shared her findings with national organizations like the National Center for Learning Disabilities and presented internationally at institutions such as the Japanese Society for Developmental Psychology and the Center on Research on Individual Development and Adaptive Education of Children at Risk in Germany.
