A former Meta executive has made serious allegations against the company, claiming that it assisted China in developing advanced artificial intelligence to outcompete American firms. The whistleblower, Sarah Wynn-Williams, who worked at Meta from 2011 to 2017, testified before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee that Meta engaged in a secret initiative, "Project Aldrin," to access the Chinese market. She alleged that the company shared insights into critical emerging technologies, including AI, with the Chinese Communist Party. Wynn-Williams also accused Meta of building a censorship system for China in 2015 and suppressing dissident voices under government pressure. She further alleged that Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, misled Congress and betrayed U.S. interests while publicly denying operations in China .
